I live 2 blocks outside the generally accepted border of Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. I asked what he meant, and he said they play a game-trying to guess what neighborhood people live in based on the colors they choose. The other one looked at the swatches and chuckled. When I took those colors to the counter at Home Depot to have them mixed, one guy says to a co-worker "Rittenhouse Square". So it's easy to just keep buying the same stuff. OTOH, I use Glidden for trim only because 16 years ago I bought the 3 colors for my house (indoor off-white trim 'Chicago Sky', and 2 exterior colors 'Potter's Clay" and 'Soapstone'). But my last can was from Lowes, and it was really good-primer and paint in one-and many colors developed with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. They make lines for the big box stores and a better line for independent stores. It was CR's top paint when I started using it and it always ranks highly. I'm just a home owner who loves their product and service. No, I have no association with the company. They have people in the field to come to your house if you have a problem.and they don't just blame the painters! You can't find much info on them since the paints that are rated are the big paint stores that are national. 1 hour+ free consultation and jumps thru hoops to services you before and after the sale. Instead, they give excellent customer service. Porter does not advertise like SW and Ben Moore. They do not have sales like SW but you can ask for a discount and they probably will give it to you. its very expensive at about $80 a gallon. it fades less, is thick an fills small gaps, stretches and can paint in cold weather (35 degrees). Porter Permanizer 100% acrylic paint comes with a Life Time Guarantee! It has an elasticsizer in the paint. They are the most expensive but but worth the extra money: Porter, also called PPG/ Pitsburg Paints is fantastic. JD Power did a customer satisfaction in 2015. In my own home, however, I needed the least amount of sheen combined with durability so that's why I went with Aura Matte. Many of my clients opt to use one of Benjamin Moore's less expensive paint products in an eggshell finish and it looks great. The Aura Matte paint pretty much covered it in one coat and we didn't have to prime before, which saved time and money. In one of our rooms we were painting Aura Matte in a light color over an existing dark color that was in a satin finish. However, the coverage is excellent so that does offset the price a bit. The downside is the price - it is expensive. With a durable and washable finish, Wonder-Pro is a low-VOC, low odor paint. The reimagined program strengthens the lineup of Glidden DIY paint offerings to this key retail channel, highlighting PPG’s commitment to the dealer network. It is highly durable and scrubbable despite its low sheen. Dealer partners to benefit from new addition, expanded color offerings in product lineup PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced an expansion of its paint assortment of GLIDDEN paint by PPG products for independent dealer partners. The Aura Matte finish is between a flat and an eggshell finish in terms of gloss. We have texture on our walls and typically the higher sheen/gloss finishes make the texture more noticeable, which I don't want - even eggshell does this in our home. I've used it now in two rooms in my own home. My favorite paint product for interior walls is Benjamin Moore's Aura Matte. After the acquisition of Glidden and the re-branding to PPG Paints even Painter's didn't recognize the name of PPG Paints.Īs far as their products, it is widely accepted that their 6-2 primer is a very nice primer.I use Benjamin Moore professionally for color consultations because of their extensive color palette. Lastly, they really don't do any marketing. Thirdly, they are constantly shifting focus on what is important, and trying to be something that they are not: (SW) Basically, they can't seem to find a lane and stick to it. They've focused on partnering with the big box store. They bought and sold their corporate stores, they've expanded their footprint, then dialed back. Second off, they don't know what they want to do in the Architectural market. (whereas both SW & BM have had at least their MAIN fan decks for 30+ years) There's more of a problem with PPG Paints, rather than PPG's paint.įirst off, they have an identity issue: Pittsburgh Paint, Porter Paint, Glidden, PPG Paintsįor an architectural firm or a designer, how many times have they had to relearn products and/or colors.
